These two news reports headlines appeared in the Delhi newspapers on 28th. August,09.....
Come 5 th. September , a retired teacher will get his 'Guru Dakshina' (offering) when 500 of his students ,whom he taught 20 years back will gift him a newly built 2 -storey house worth
Rs. 10 lakh.
The teacher is Tamil scholar, Mr. S.V. Venkataraman,who retired in 1985 after teaching in a school in Gurusamypalayam in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu.
The house would be handed over to Mr. Venkataramanan on Teacher's Day on 5th. September.
The day is celebrated every year on 5th. September , the birthday of India's second President,Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan,a great philosopher,educationist and teacher.
